Making Change in Social Care

Join us online for an exciting discussion on transforming social care. This event aims to bring together individuals passionate about creating positive change in the social care sector.
We will be joined by Lyn Romeo, Chief Social Worker for Adults will be our speaker. Lyn Romeo has been in post since 2013 and has previously worked as the Assistant Director for Adult Social Care in London, as a Social Services Inspectorate and a field social worker for over 20 years.
We also have a panel on the topic for one of our usual lively discussions! Panel members include:
Donna Murray from Social Work Scotland has 30 years of experience in the social care sector, and has also been a PA for 20 years.
David Clayton is from the Welsh Social Services and Integration Directorate.
Jane McMillan the Professional Social Work Officer from Northern Ireland.
Stephen Watt a Commissioning Manager in Adult Social Care at Essex County Council.
The panel members will be able to give views at both national and local levels.
Previous Event
Our final event of the year looked at the on-going challenges in direct payments. We were joined by leaders in direct payments from every country in the UK.
An informative online event looking at employment laws for PA employers. The webinar was run by a care sector specialist from ACAS and covered a variety of topics in employment law.
The theme of our third event was Disability Related Expenses (DRE) and financial assessments. Inclusion London to give a range of information for reducing care contributions.
The Campaign for Real Care hosted a webinar for ILG Community members covering their suggested five stages of self-assessments to meet Care Act requirements.
This meeting took place in February 2023 and included presentations from Colin Slasburg (Campaign for Real Care) & Barbara Carr (Care 4 Care & PA Place).
The ILG Community launch meeting took place on Tuesday 4th October 2022 over zoom. It was very well attended by over 100 people from the across the country.
